Senator Nikki Setzler’s $12,000 Commute

10/8/12

Dear Concerned South Carolinian,

Imagine your boss tells you that you are going to be paid an extra $131 a day for meals and a hotel room. You can bring your lunch and even sleep at your own house – yet still make an extra $650 a week! Who wouldn’t like that deal?

If only such a job existed!  Guess what? It does, and you are paying for it!

Suddenly this “sweet deal” doesn’t sound so exciting.

As shown in the video below, the sad reality is that every day the South Carolina Senate meets Senator Nikki Setzler charges taxpayers $131 for a “per diem.”

Some legislators have to drive hours to get to the Statehouse, and the per diem is intended to help them pay for meals and a hotel room.

However, Senator Setzler lives so close to the Statehouse (about a mile) that he couldwalk home.

So why does he take nearly $12,000 a year from taxpayers for meals and hotel rooms?

After 35 years of this behavior, it’s time to elect someone else and let Senator Setzler stay home.

Let’s get to work,

Phillip Cease

P.S. Again, please watch the video below to learn more.  If you are tired of paying Setzler $12,000 a year for a seven minute commute, please forward this to at least three friends in West Columbia, Aiken or Saluda. Remember to make your opinion known by voting on November 6th.
